Independent District Kirchweih
The Kirchweih Weiher is a small, independent district Kirchweih in Weiher, a district of the municipality of Uttenreuth (Erlangen-Höchstadt district). It is not the same as the larger main Kirchweih in Uttenreuth, which is celebrated about two weeks later (at the end of September). The small Kirchweih in Weiher preserves its own tradition with the parish, associations, and inn gastronomy.
Three Festival Days in September
The festival weekend follows the typical Middle Franconian structure: Festival evening on Friday, dancing on Saturday, festival service and early morning pint on Kirchweih Sunday. Food is served with classic Franconian delicacies – Drei-im-Weggla (three Nuremberg sausages in a bun), Schäuferla (pork shoulder), Bratwürste (sausages), Krapfen (doughnuts) – and regional beers. A brass band or regional bands provide the entertainment throughout the weekend.
Uttenreuth in the Erlangen Region
Uttenreuth is a market town east of Erlangen with around 5,000 inhabitants and several districts – including Weiher. Regional tradition includes several Kirchweihen per large municipality ("main Kirchweih" and "district Kirchweihen"), which complement rather than compete with each other. The official Kirchweih Calendar 2026 of the Erlangen-Höchstadt District Office officially lists the Kirchweih Weiher.

Three days of late summer Kärwa in the Uttenreuth district of Weiher: From September 11th to 13th, 2026, hosts and associations will open their festival grounds. The highlight is the festival service and early morning pint on Kirchweih Sunday.

Uttenreuth is easily accessible by bus from Erlangen (line 209). By car: A3 exit Erlangen-Höchstadt, then follow signs towards Uttenreuth, Weiher district. Parking available in the village center.
