About Rollhofener Kirwa
Rollhofener Kirwa — edition 2026
From August 7 to 10, 2026, Rollhofen will celebrate its traditional Kirwa — the biggest Kärwa in the Nürnberger Land that weekend. The festival tent, beer stand, and dance floor will be open for four days, and the village will be in a state of celebration.
Highlights in 2026: the raising of the Kärwabaum, the festival service, the parade with the Kärwaboum in traditional costume, and the Kärwa sermon with a satirical review of the village year. The "Rollhofener Kirwa Ausfahrt" organized by the younger generation rounds off the program.

In the Franconian Kärwa year, the Rollhofener Kirwa holds a firm place. The Rollhofen district — just under 1,000 inhabitants on the Pegnitz river — transforms into an attraction for the entire Nürnberger Land on the second weekend in August. Those seeking Franconian Kärwa atmosphere will find it here.
The center of the festival is the Kirchweihplatz Rollhofen with its festival tent, beer stand, and stage. Highlights include the traditional raising of the Kärwabaum, the parade with the "Kärwaboum" (fair lads) in traditional costume, the ecumenical festival service, and the joint "Kärwa-Predigt" (fair sermon) with a satirical review of village events.
The festival is organized by the Kirchweihteam Rollhofen e.V. and the Rollhofen Volunteer Fire Department; the organization combines two associations that shape village life. The 30th edition of the Kirwa was already celebrated grandly — the festival is deeply rooted across generations, and the younger generation is featured in the program with the independently organized "Rollhofener Kirwa Ausfahrt" (classic car and tractor rally).
Rollhofen is conveniently located between Nuremberg and the Hersbrucker Schweiz, easily accessible via the A9 motorway and by S-Bahn line S1 (stop Neunkirchen am Sand / Ottensoos). The Kärwa is embedded in the Franconian Kirchweih tradition, which structures village life in many villages in the region between June and October.
