Community, Tradition, and Fun at Pfarrer-Caspar-Mayr-Platz
Kirchheim near Munich is considered a family-friendly community in the district of Munich (state of Bavaria, district code 09184) and is home to over 80 clubs and institutions — from traditional costume and music clubs to sports clubs and social and charitable organizations. This club landscape shapes the cultural life of the community and is particularly visible at the annual Dorffest.
The Dorffest takes place around Pfarrer-Caspar-Mayr-Platz in the center of Kirchheim — named after the long-serving pastor who shaped the community. A festival tent, several stands from participating clubs, and stages for musical accompaniment transform the square into a large, inviting festival mile for a weekend. Clubs provide catering, clubs play music, clubs organize hands-on activities — the character is classically village-Bavarian, in a town that has long since belonged to Munich's affluent commuter belt.
The program ranges from live music in the festival tent and catering with Bavarian specialties to hands-on activities for children and an afternoon for children and youth with a science show, Clown Pippo, and participatory dance. An ecumenical festival service on Sunday morning traditionally opens the second day of the festival. Free admission.
The Dorffest is one of several major events in Kirchheim's annual calendar: a family sports day in June, the "Open Stage im Park" at the end of July, and the Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market) at the beginning of December round off the community's cultural offerings. Anyone who has attended the Dorffest knows the fusion of Bavarian tradition and Munich commuter belt modernity that defines Kirchheim.
In 2026, the municipality of Kirchheim near Munich invites you to the traditional Dorffest. For two days, Pfarrer-Caspar-Mayr-Platz will be transformed into a festival mile with a festival tent, club stands, and stage program. As every year, the approximately 80 Kirchheim clubs organize the festival together — from the traditional costume club to the fire department, from the music club to charitable organizations.
The detailed program booklet for 2026 will be published from June 2026 on the municipality's website and via social media channels.
