Season opener of Munich's largest open-air series
The Isle of Summer Opening is the first major event of the three-part Munich open-air series of the same name and is considered the unofficial season start for the electronic summer scene of the Bavarian capital. While the Wiesn season is far away and the city center clubs are still in spring mood, the Opening on the second weekend in May creates a powerful start under the open sky.
The venue for the Opening is the Munich-Riem Racecourse in the Munich district of Riem (postal code 81929) – a traditional area with a racetrack, grandstands, and spacious outdoor areas. The historic setting, excellent infrastructure, and good connection to the Munich U-Bahn (U2 Messestadt Riem) make it the ideal festival backdrop for tens of thousands of visitors. The Festival itself (in June) and several large concerts already use the grounds – the Opening is essentially the season's 'dress rehearsal'.
Isle of Summer 2026 is conceived as a connected series of three events:
A Season Ticket 2026 provides access to all three events at a discounted combined price and is aimed at regular attendees of the series.
The musical profile is clearly electronic: House, Techno, Tech-House, Melodic House, and Trance are the focus. The extended festival date (June) brings international acts like Fisher, Boris Brejcha, Miss Monique, Holy Priest, A.N.I., Kalte Liebe, and others to four stages (Sunrise, Field, Moon, Track). The Opening focuses on a more compact performance with fewer stages but the same sound quality and crew. The light shows, stage constructions, and sound systems are realized by the experienced Munich crew Permanent Entertainment GmbH.
Permanent Entertainment GmbH (Reichenbachstraße 33, 80469 Munich) is one of Munich's most important electronic music promoters and curates other event series besides Isle of Summer. The Opening is a meeting point for Munich's club scene and attracts visitors from southern Germany, Austria, and Tyrol. With high-quality sound, well-organized festival management, and an urban atmosphere, Isle of Summer stands out from smaller open-air events.
The 2026 Opening edition starts on Saturday, May 9, at the Munich-Riem Racecourse. As the first event of the three-part Isle of Summer series, it marks the official start of the Munich open-air season. The Munich-based promoter Permanent Entertainment GmbH sets up a compact yet high-quality stage setup on the historic racecourse grounds. International and local DJs will play Tech-House, Techno, Melodic House, and electronic dance music. The 2026 Season Ticket offers discounted access to all three events (Opening, Festival, Beach).
Early bird tickets from approx. €39, standard tickets in advance €49–€69, VIP tickets and box office higher. Season Ticket 2026 for all three events (Opening, Festival, Beach) at a combined discounted price. Tickets exclusively via the official website isleofsummer.de.
Munich-Riem Racecourse is optimally accessible via the U-Bahn line U2 (Messestadt Riem station) – about a 20-minute ride from Munich city center. Autobahn connection A94 (Feldkirchen-West/Riem). Parking available on-site and in the nearby Riem Arcaden underground garage.

Comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear recommended – it can get chilly in the evenings in May. Those who want to extend the day can find restaurants and bars in the nearby Riem Arcaden; alternative accommodation options are available in trade fair hotels and in Munich city center with U-Bahn connections.
