Munich's district Volksfest in the east of the state capital
Trudering in eastern Munich was once an independent village on the outskirts of the state capital – and has retained its own sense of identity to this day. The Truderinger Festwoche is an expression of this self-understanding: not a small Munich Wiesn, but a classic Volksfest with a festival tent, carousels, and customs and traditions, which the people of Trudering see as "their" festival week.
The organizer since 1974 has been the Truderinger Buamfestring. In 2026, the club will celebrate its 50th anniversary – an occasion that makes the festival week the 53rd edition, in addition to its already rich tradition. The opening parade on the first day of the festival will therefore be particularly special.
The focus is on the large festival tent with daily changing bands and stage programs. Customs and traditions are highly valued: traditional dance groups, Father's Day boxing with TSV 1860 Munich, family days with reduced prices, and senior afternoons. Politicians and clubs host themed evenings.
Around the tent, carousels, dodgems, swing boats, and high-rise rides provide the Volksfest atmosphere. The Bavarian gastronomy ranges from roast chicken to pretzels, from Wiesn beer to lemonade. A separate beer garden area and Punch and Judy shows for children complete the offering.
The highlight on the last day of the festival is the BR show "Brettl-Spitzen LIVE": Bavarian folk singers – Couplet-AG, Roland Hefter, Marion Schieder, and others – perform live from the festival tent on BR. A mix of folk music, couplets, jokes, and political cabaret, as has been cultivated by Bavarian Television for years.
From Friday, May 8th, to Sunday, May 17th, 2026, the 53rd Truderinger Festwoche invites you to a classic Munich Volksfest. The venue is the Stadtrat-Helmut-Schmid-Festwiese (Wasserburger Landstraße 32, 81825 Munich).
The festival week opens on May 8th with the traditional club parade from Hotel Obermaier to the festival tent. Mayor Sebastian Schall will tap the first beer at 5:00 PM, followed by the show band Nachtstark. In 2026, the 50th anniversary of the Truderinger Buamfestring as the organizing club will also be celebrated.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Food and drinks at usual Volksfest prices. Reservations in the festival tent recommended for main evenings (truderingerbuamfestring.de).
Take the U2 subway or the S-Bahn to Trudering station, then walk about 15 minutes or take a bus to the festival grounds. By car, take the A 94 or Wasserburger Landstraße.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Food, drinks, and rides are subject to a charge. Reservations in the festival tent are recommended for the main evenings.
Family Day (with reduced ride prices) and the Brettl-Spitzen LIVE show on the final day are among the biggest attractions.
