Kinderfest with Village Character

The Kinderfest Osterhever is the annual highlight festival of the marsh community of Osterhever on the Eiderstedt peninsula in the district of Nordfriesland. The venue is the shelter on the village square. The festival traditionally falls on the last Saturday before the summer holidays in Schleswig-Holstein and is a firmly established village tradition.

Program by Age Group

The program is organized by age group, so that every child finds suitable activities:

• Children 1–4 years: Own children's zone with play activities for toddlers
• Children 5–11 years: Competitive team games in age brackets, classic skill games and competitions
• Children 12 years and older: Tir à la cible (target shooting) and skill activities
• Adults: Stalls, conversations, socializing on the village square

The program starts at 2 p.m. and continues until the communal barbecue from 5 p.m. Participation usually requires pre-registration at a reduced price (€5) or can be done on the day for €7. Participants should bring their own plates and cutlery; cake or salad donations for the community are welcome.

Osterhever is located on the Eiderstedt peninsula in the Nordfriesland district in western Schleswig-Holstein. The peninsula juts out into the North Sea and is part of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. The small marsh communities of Eiderstedt, such as Osterhever, maintain a strong village tradition – the Kinderfest is an expression of this identity and a lovingly maintained date in the region's summer calendar.
