The RT-Cup Wismar is one of the most original sporting events in the Hanseatic city. For one day, the historic Market Square of Wismar – one of the largest and most beautiful market squares in Northern Germany, framed by gable houses in the UNESCO World Heritage site – becomes a beach volleyball stadium. Dozens of truckloads of sand turn the cobblestones into a playing field.

A Tournament for Hobby and Ambition

Amateur and hobby teams compete against each other on the sand. The games run from morning till evening, accompanied by music, commentary, prize draws, and catering. This turns the tournament into a convivial town festival that thrives on both sporting competition and the surrounding atmosphere – a trip tip for the whole family in the Wismar summer.

Sport for a Good Cause

Behind the RT-Cup is the non-profit organization RT-Cup Wismar e.V. The proceeds from the tournament are passed on to charitable organizations every year and finance social, sporting, and community projects in the city. This makes the RT-Cup more than just a competition – it is also a contribution to the community of the Hanseatic city in the Nordwestmecklenburg district.

The unusual venue in the middle of the old town is what makes the RT-Cup so appealing: strolling across the market square between games, you can admire the water art, the Gothic town hall, and the gabled facades of the Hanseatic merchant houses.
