Karlsruhe's Spring Fair with Tradition

The Karlsruhe Spring Fair is one of the city's traditional funfairs — the first of Karlsruhe's three major annual fairs (Spring Fair in May/June, Spring Festival, Autumn Fair). From May 29 to June 8, 2026, the fair opens on the Messplatz at Durlacher Allee in Karlsruhe's Oststadt district. Eleven days of funfair at the same location as the Autumn Fair and the Spring Festival — a well-known address for Karlsruhe families.

Ferris Wheel, Dodgems, and Festival Tent

The classic funfair offerings are extensive: a Ferris wheel with views over Karlsruhe and the nearby Black Forest foothills, dodgems, a carousel, a swing ride, a giant slide, and many children's rides. Showman stalls offer candy floss, candied almonds, gingerbread, bratwurst, crêpes, and gingerbread hearts. Live music plays in the large festival tent — from Schlager and folk music to cover bands for the younger generation.

New Attraction 2026: Haunted House 'Diablos Residenz'

A new attraction for 2026 is the haunted house 'Diablos Residenz' — a large-scale horror attraction with elaborate effects and actors. The haunted house trend is one of the defining innovations in the funfair world in recent years — they are more elaborate and thematically deeper than the traditional ghost trains of past decades.

Children's Birthday Program on June 5

On Friday, June 5, 2026, there will be a special children's birthday program with reduced ride prices, child-friendly activities, and special prices at the sweet stalls. Families with birthday children should choose this day for a visit to the fair — the showman's promotions make the day a special experience.

Opening Hours and Getting There

Mon to Thu 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Fri and Sat 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Sun and public holidays 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The Messplatz at Durlacher Allee is located in Karlsruhe's Oststadt district, excellently served by the tram lines S2 or S5. Park-and-ride is recommended, as parking spaces directly at the Messplatz are limited.

Showmen's Association Karlsruhe and the City of Karlsruhe

The organizers are the Showmen's Association Karlsruhe (SVKA) together with the City of Karlsruhe. The SVKA represents the approximately 100 showman families who regularly participate in Karlsruhe's fairs — many of them traditional family businesses with three or more generations of fair history. The Spring Fair is one of their most important annual fairs and the kick-off to the summer funfair season in Southern Germany.
