47th edition of the Lower Bavarian village festival in Markt Fürstenzell – with 50 years of Rock Disco anniversary
Jägerwirth is a district of the market town of Fürstenzell in the Passau district in Lower Bavaria. The market town is located between Passau and the Bavarian Forest, with the village of Jägerwirth itself about 8 km southwest of the town center. Despite its small size, Jägerwirth has established one of the most scenically and culturally distinctive village festivals in the region – supported by DJK Jägerwirth e.V., a sports club with several hundred members and departments for football, Bavarian curling, and others.
In 2026, it's the 47th edition of the Jägerwirther Dorffest. The festival thus falls within the major anniversary year "FZ3LL" – the market town of Fürstenzell is celebrating a triple anniversary in 2026: 950 years of the parish, 750 years of the monastery Fürstenzell, and 50 years of market elevation. The Jägerwirther Dorffest is officially part of the FZ3LL program.
A special anniversary deserves attention: in 2026, Rockdisco Jägerwirth celebrates its 50th anniversary. It is one of the oldest disco formats in Southern Germany – organized by DJK Jägerwirth as part of the village festival since 1976. "The Original," as DJK Jägerwirth confidently communicates, was a trendsetter for Lower Bavarian disco culture and remains a magnet for guests from all over the Bavarian Forest, the Passau region, and even Austria to this day.
Another pillar of the village festival is the Accordion Meeting on Sunday. In 2025, it was already the 38th edition – and in 2026, it will be the 47th (counting differs; officially the 47th Accordion Meeting). One hundred or more accordion players from Bavaria and Austria gather on Sunday morning (from 9:00 AM) to play and make music together – a unique spectacle of Lower Bavarian folk music culture.
The festival program extends over the Pentecost weekend and a few days before and after – traditionally five days:
The venue is the sports facility of DJK Jägerwirth at Weidenberg 6. The festival tent is set up on the sports field, with several other catering tents and stalls lining the grounds. The logistics are designed for large numbers of visitors – on peak days, several thousand guests attend.
In 2026, the Jägerwirther Dorffest again falls on the traditional Pentecost weekend. The five festival days showcase the full breadth of the festival concept: club contacts, rock music, folk music, parade, family day. The FZ3LL anniversary year of the market town of Fürstenzell makes 2026 a particularly eventful year for the entire region.
Saturday in 2026 is entirely dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Rockdisco Jägerwirth. Since 1976, the Rockdisco has been an integral part of the village festival and has shaped generations of people from Lower Bavaria and Passau.
