Regional market with around 80 vendors and Sunday opening hours in the heart of the Kirner Land
The Kirn Arts and Crafts and Farmers' Market attracts thousands of visitors to the town center of the small Nahe town at the foot of the Hunsrück every October. Around 80 regional vendors showcase their craftsmanship and present agricultural products from beekeepers, vintners, shepherds, bakers, and direct marketers. In parallel, the shops in the town center open for the Sunday shopping, extending the autumnal market weekend for the whole family.
Organized by the town of Kirn in collaboration with the Kirner Land municipal association, the market is a fixture in the event calendar of the northern Bad Kreuznach district. Woodturners, potters, jewelry designers, felt artists, and leather goods makers line the pedestrian zone, creating a unique atmosphere between market stalls and workshop visits.
When the vineyards along the Nahe River glow in their autumnal colors in early October, the town center of Kirn transforms into an open-air workshop for a day. The Arts and Crafts and Farmers' Market combines the region's two mainstays – traditional crafts and agriculture – making both accessible to a broad audience. The stalls open at eleven in the morning, and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the shops in Kirn's town center complement the offerings with Sunday opening hours.
Approximately 80 exhibitors set up their stalls along the main street, the market square, and the adjacent alleys. The agricultural section features regional specialties: honey from the Soonwald, cheese from Hunsrück farm dairies, wines from the Nahe Wine Route, apple and pear juices from their own cultivation, liqueurs, jams, farmhouse bread from wood-fired ovens, and sausage and meat products from small producers. The arts and crafts section presents woodturnings, ceramics, handmade leather goods, felt jewelry, wooden toys, glass beads, and textile art.
In parallel with the market activities, retailers in Kirn's town center open their shops. Fashion, bookstores, opticians, toy stores, and gift shops round off the offerings, making Sunday a relaxed shopping day. Cafés and bistros offer seating, and restaurants feature autumnal specialties on their menus – game dishes, new wine (Federweißer) with onion cake, pumpkin soup, or regional cakes.
The town of Kirn, with its approximately 8,000 inhabitants, is picturesquely located in the Nahe valley between Idar-Oberstein and Bad Kreuznach, nestled between the Hunsrück and Soonwald mountain ranges. Its landmark is the Kyrburg castle ruins, which tower high above the town and offer a unique view of the Nahe valley. The market Sunday is an ideal occasion to get to know the townscape and combine a walk up to the castle with the market experience.
The 2026 edition of the Kirn Arts and Crafts and Farmers' Market will take place on Sunday, October 11. From 11 a.m., around 80 regional vendors will set up their stalls in the town center. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the shops in Kirn's pedestrian zone will also open for Sunday shopping. The market is free to enter and is considered one of the most important autumn events in the northern Naheland.
As in previous years, the 2026 edition brings together direct marketers, vintners, beekeepers, cheese producers, and artisans from the entire Naheland and the adjacent Hunsrück region. The exact exhibitor mapping will be published by the organizer (Town of Kirn / Kirner Land Municipal Association) a few weeks before the event on the official website.
