Kelheim transforms into the northernmost city of Italy — Vespa parade, fashion show, and piazza flair in the old town
Once a year, Kelheim says "Buonasera": The Italienische Nacht transforms the historic old town into a southern European backdrop for one evening. Under the motto "Kelheim transforms into the northernmost city of Italy!", an atmospheric piazza is staged between Ludwigsplatz and Alter Markt — with Mediterranean drinks, Italian specialties, and summery joie de vivre.
It all starts at 6 p.m. with the traditional Vespa parade and the rolling in of the RSC youth. At 7 p.m., a fashion show with Mediterranean flair follows, accompanied by refreshments and culinary specialties. The band Il Duo plays Italian classics and modern hits on Ludwigsplatz, while Alter Markt transforms into an atmospheric piazza with Quartetto Amaretto. Kelheim's shops invite you to stroll and shop until 10 p.m. — a real shopping night with a holiday atmosphere.
The Italienische Nacht is more than a city festival: It forms the festive prelude to the well-known Kelheim 24-hour cycling race, which occupies the city on the following two days. Thus, southern flair combines with sporting tradition to create one of the highlights of Kelheim's event summer.
Organized by the City of Kelheim together with the district, the Italienische Nacht attracts visitors from the entire Altmühltal-Donau-Hallertau region. The mix of music, fashion, culinary delights, and open shops makes the evening particularly appealing.
