11th edition of the intercultural open-air festival at echazHafen — three days of world music, roots, and family programming with free admission
The inter:Komm! Festival is the intercultural open-air festival of the Reutlingen cultural center franz.K. Since 2016, every June it transforms the echazHafen — the courtyard at Hintere Grabenstraße opposite franz.K — into a three-day stage for world music, roots, and intercultural encounters. In 2026, the 11th edition will run from Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th. Admission is free, as always.
The name says it all: inter:Komm! — intercultural communication, but also an invitation. The festival programs bands that come from the international scene or are connected with migrant communities in Reutlingen. It's about equal encounters, musical bridges — and concrete participation: local migrant associations get a stage, booth space, and program slots, not just a consumption offer.
Three days, three moods. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the concert programs with international acts will take place — from West African desert music (Tamikrest from Mali) to South American-British cumbia (Malphino) to Berlin avant-pop and Ukrainian ethno-drama fusion. Sunday is family day: Clown Otsch roams around, Randale plays children's music, a cultural workshop band performs, a foam volcano and a Serbian dance group round off the program. The Sunday program is consistently low-threshold and inviting for families from all communities.
The echazHafen is the outdoor courtyard in front of the franz.K cultural center, on the banks of the Echaz river. An intimate open-air space in the middle of Reutlingen — stage, catering stands, seating — which is regularly used for open-air events by franz.K in the summer. The acoustics are pleasant, the atmosphere is familiar.
franz.K finances inter:Komm! as a conscious inclusion offer: cultural participation should not be hindered by financial constraints. The festival is funded by the city, state, and foundations, by sponsors, and by the commitment of numerous associations that offer food and drinks. This creates a weekend with high musical quality that is accessible to everyone.
The 11th edition in 2026 continues the proven three-day format: two concert evenings with international bands, a family program on Sunday, and continuous catering by local associations. The lineup for the concert evenings covers a wide range — from African desert sounds to Berlin avant-pop. On Sunday, Reutlingen's cultural diversity will be made tangible with workshop performances, dance contributions from Serbian and other communities, a children's program, and walkabouts.
