Club festival on the flood protection dike of Wasserburg's old town
Wasserburg am Inn is located in a distinctive loop of the Inn River: the historic old town sits on a peninsula, framed by the Inn on both sides. To protect the old town from flooding, a dike was built, which today also serves as a promenade and festival path. It is precisely here that the Inndammfest takes place annually — a classic club festival with character, driven by the Inndammbiber initiative and the Wasserburg clubs.
Around the dike surrounding the old town, about a dozen food stations are spread out — coffee stands, barbecue stations, snack booths, some with live music. The format is a walking mile: visitors stroll along the dike, sample offerings at various clubs, and listen to music as they pass by. Beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks. No central beer tent — instead, Inn river views from every section.
For children and families, there are free boat trips on the Inn, a climbing wall, and a bouncy castle. This sets the Inndammfest apart from many purely adult folk festivals and establishes it as a festival that can entertain families for an entire weekend — even though the festival itself only lasts one day.
In case of rain on August 15, the Inndammfest will be postponed to Sunday, August 16, 2026 — with an earlier start (12 p.m.) and earlier end (7 p.m.) and without evening illumination. This is a Wasserburg peculiarity: the festival is not canceled but moved to the next day.
Wasserburg am Inn is a district town in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria, about 50 km east of Munich. The historic old town is located entirely within a loop of the Inn River — one of the most unusual locations in southern Germany, comparable to Schwäbisch Hall or Bernkastel-Kues. The Innstadt with its town hall, St. Jakob parish church, Marienkapelle chapel, and several late Gothic patrician houses is of supra-regional importance as a historic substance. The Inndammfest is one of the most charming regular town festivals of this special old town.
The 2026 edition is confirmed by the city of Wasserburg in the official event calendar (wasserburg.de/veranstaltungshoehepunkte) and listed on the festival website inndammfest.de. The festival traditionally falls on Assumption Day (August 15) — a public holiday in Bavaria, which makes the festival day particularly well-attended.
The exact list of participating clubs and live music acts varies from year to year. It is typically communicated in early August by the Inndammbiber initiative (postings in the old town, announcements on wasserburg.de and in the local press).
Detailed program with locations of food stations and live music typically published in the first week of August 2026 on inndammfest.de and in the local press.
Wasserburg am Inn is located near the A94 motorway (Munich–Passau, exit Rott am Inn or Pfaffing). By train to Wasserburg-Bahnhof (Mühldorf–Rosenheim line), then by bus or a 15-minute walk to the old town. Parking: Park & Ride 'Burgau' on the outskirts, shuttle service to the old town during the festival.
Completely free. Food and drinks at usual club prices. Boat trips, climbing wall, and bouncy castle free for children.
