Indoor Street Food in the Dark Season
While street food festivals are usually reserved for summer, MEC offers a counter-model with its indoor format: for three cold winter weekends in January/February, the large halls of the event center become a culinary stage. Long tables, warm lighting, live music, and the aroma of dozens of food trucks and street food stalls create a festive, almost urban atmosphere in the middle of the Lower Saxon winter.
The Tapas Concept
The focus is on the specially developed tapas concept: each individual portion is limited to a maximum of 7 Euros. This makes it easy and affordable to try several dishes from different vendors and feast your way through the world of street food cultures. Families, couples, and groups of friends share portions and discover new taste worlds together. Vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful.
International Variety
Participating vendors come from all over Northern Germany and bring specialties from around the world: Asian Bao Buns and Ramen, Mexican Tacos and Quesadillas, Italian Pasta and Antipasti, German classics with a new twist, burgers in all variations, Indian curries, Turkish Lahmacun, vegan bowls, and much more. The festival is a stage for small manufacturers, food truck pioneers, and creative chefs.
Beer Festival as a Companion
A beer festival takes place parallel to the street food festival at MEC. Craft beers from the region, German craft beers, and international specialties complement the culinary offerings. Tasting glasses and tasting sets make it possible to get to know several varieties.
Family-Friendly and Accessible
The MEC is accessible and also well-suited for families with children. Admission includes both festivals; individual portions are paid for separately.
