An East German Singer-Songwriter Returns to Brandenburg

IC Falkenberg — the stage name of singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Ralf Schmidt from Saxony-Anhalt — has been one of the defining voices of the East German pop and singer-songwriter scene since the 1980s. His work ranges from songs from the late GDR era and pop productions from the period of German reunification to current compositions. With the program "Unterstrichen", he presents a selection that connects new songs and old hits in a programmatic arc.

Regattastrecke on Beetzsee — A Water Backdrop for an Open Air

The Regattastrecke on Beetzsee in Brandenburg an der Havel is one of the best rowing and canoeing courses in Germany — international competitions are held here, including World and European Championships. In recent years, the open water area has also developed into an impressive concert backdrop: open-air concerts with a view of the lake attract a broad audience from Brandenburg and Berlin.

The concert is embedded in the "Brandenburgische Wassermusiken" (Brandenburg Water Music Festival), which bundles the city of Brandenburg an der Havel's water and classical music program from August 20 to 23, 2026. Concerts, boat parades, light installations, and sound formats on, at, and next to the rivers and lakes characterize the event. IC Falkenberg's performance on August 21 adds a pop/singer-songwriter element to the predominantly classical festival.

Brandenburg an der Havel — City on the Water

Brandenburg an der Havel is one of the oldest cities in the Mark Brandenburg and gave the entire federal state its name. Three city islands lie between several Havel arms and lakes; the Old Town, worthy of UNESCO World Heritage status, with its cathedral, monasteries, and town halls, forms the historic center. The Regattastrecke on Beetzsee, located on the northwestern outskirts, is one of the city's modern landmarks.
