Frisian Advent Atmosphere

Leck, with around 7,700 inhabitants, is one of the larger municipalities in the district of North Frisia in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. With the LECKer Weihnachtsdorf, it has carved out a firm place in the North German Christmas market calendar. The church square, with the late Gothic St. Willehad Church, provides the ideal backdrop for a market that deliberately emphasizes Frisian identity: small huts, plenty of lights, traditional baked goods, kale variations, and a packed program on the Advent weekends.

Four Weekends of Programming

The Christmas village is open on all four Advent weekends (Friday to Sunday). During this time, the square in front of the church transforms into a market with traditional and original mulled wine and food stands. The offerings range from classic Glühwein to Frisian Pharisäer (coffee with rum and cream) and modern mulled wine creations.

Readings, Carousel, Santa Claus

A central meeting point for families is the readings in the Weihnachts-Kate — a thatched hut right on the market, where locals and guests read stories. The children's carousel spins for the little ones, and on Saturdays and Sundays, Santa Claus visits the market. Musical performances — choirs, brass choirs, solo artists — provide live entertainment.

After-Work Party and Abpunschen

Two dates stand out from the program: An after-work party with a DJ in mid-December (extended opening hours until 10 PM) and the Abpunschen on the last market day — the final farewell to the Advent season, traditionally with live music. These two highlights make the LECKer Weihnachtsdorf a meeting place not only for families but also for the adult citizens of Leck.
