Skiarea Heubach — Winter Sports in the Southern Thuringian Forest

Masserberg is a traditional winter sports resort in the Hildburghausen district, in the southern Thuringian Forest. The Skiarea Heubach in the Heubach district is one of the most frequented ski areas in Thuringia — with lifts, slopes of varying difficulty, and a snow park that attracts snowboarders from all over Central Germany.

Three Floors, One Ski Slope

What makes the I Love Snow Festival special is the combination of winter sports and festival setup. Three floors will be set up at Skiarea Heubach: Techno/Tekk, House, and 90s/00s & Après-Ski. While the DJ sets are playing, the ski lifts remain open — you can ski down the slopes under floodlights until midnight. A rare combination in Germany: skiing to beats, Après-Ski with chart music, Techno in the snow.

2026 — Line-up and Format

On February 7, 2026, the ski area opens at 9:30 AM for regular lift operations (regular ski day until 4:30 PM). The actual festival begins at 4:30 PM with the I Love Snow Ticket — valid for ski pass and lift operations until midnight under floodlights.

Announced for 2026: TEKKSCHUSTER, FABITEKK, TEKKSTREETBOYZ, OSTRAUSCH, BTWOB, PEPPER, FRAY, DANNY B, MAURICE, SVEN UK, LEFLO, NOHATE & DJ ANDY. The spectrum ranges from hard techno sets to house and chart hits and Après-Ski classics — on three different floors simultaneously.

Price and Access

The complete package — ski pass plus festival — costs €15. This makes the I Love Snow Festival one of the most affordable snow and music events in Germany. Ski and snowboard rental remain open until midnight, so spontaneous visitors without their own equipment can also participate.

Masserberg — Winter Sports Resort with Rennsteig Connection

Masserberg is located directly on the Rennsteig — the famous ridge hiking trail of the Thuringian Forest. In winter, the town is a popular destination for ski weekends, and in summer for hiking. The Heubach district with its snow park is known regionally — the snow park is one of the oldest snowboard facilities in Central Germany.
