The Schützentag of the Goldisthal Riflemen's Association e.V. is the annual traditional festival of the small Schwarzatal village of Goldisthal in the Sonneberg district (state of Thuringia). On Saturday, September 26, 2026, starting at 2 PM, the riflemen's association invites you to the Schützenhaus for the King's Shoot, shooting competition, festive parade, beer service, and dancing. Goldisthal — a village in the Upper Schwarzatal

Goldisthal is a small municipality in the south of the Sonneberg district in the state of Thuringia, located in the Upper Schwarzatal near the Rennsteig. The village is primarily known for the Goldisthal pumped-storage hydroelectric power station — one of the largest in Germany — and for its preserved mountain village atmosphere with half-timbered houses and an active club scene.

Goldisthal Riflemen's Association — Tradition and Customs

The Goldisthal Riflemen's Association e.V. is one of the oldest clubs in the village. Marksmanship has deep roots in Thuringia — many riflemen's associations date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and combine sport shooting with the preservation of customs. The Schützentag, alongside the King's Shoot, is the most important club festival of the year.
