City marathon starting in Edewecht and finishing at Schlossplatz Oldenburg
The Oldenburg Marathon combines city run atmosphere with scenic diversity. Instead of leading exclusively through the city center, the run begins in Ammerland in Edewecht, thus connecting rural and urban Lower Saxony.
The start is in Edewecht in the Ammerland district. From there, the route leads through the Ammerland countryside, past typical North German scenery with meadows, fields, and tree lines, finally entering the city of Oldenburg. The finish line is at Schlossplatz in front of the Oldenburg Castle – a representative city center backdrop with grandstands and spectator areas.
In 2026, the Oldenburg Marathon will be the final stage of the 16th Öffentliche Laufserie. Those who have participated in several runs of the series throughout the year can crown their season here.
Registrations will be possible from February 16, 2026. Runners can choose their distance and register via the official website oldenburg-marathon.de and partner portals such as marathon.de or finishers.com.
As with many city runs, clubs, families, and residents line the route. In the Oldenburg city center, the runners can expect the largest audience turnout. The finish area at Schlossplatz offers catering, relaxation, and the official award ceremony.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition of the city marathon. The exact route, start times for individual distances, and refreshment stations will be published in advance.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer. The structure follows the proven key points:
Start: Edewecht (Ammerland). Finish: Schlossplatz Oldenburg.
Sunday, October 25, 2026.
