Cinema in the Courtyard of a Cultural Centre

Anyone spending a warm Friday evening in Wilhelmsburg in the summer and following the Hauptstraße towards Industriestraße will end up in the courtyard of the Honigfabrik — one of the most traditional cultural centres in southern Hamburg. Open-air cinema is shown here once a week: no multiplex atmosphere, no advertising block, no VIP area, but films under the open sky, in the neighbourhood oasis of a district that lives diversity and self-organisation.

Programme: Films from Around the World

• International films in their original version with German subtitles
• Genre mix: Coming-of-age, comedy, drama, adventure, documentary
• Thematic focuses: Nature, trans identity, diaspora, modern female roles
• Opening film 2025: "QUEENS" (Morocco, Road Movie)
• Further 2025 films: incl. "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" (New Zealand)

Course of a Friday Evening

Doors open at 8:30 PM, film starts at 9:30 PM. Snacks and drinks are available on site. In case of rain, it doesn't get washed out — the indoor hall of the Honigfabrik serves as a backup. Admission is consistently donation-based: you give what you can and want.

In the Hamburg-Mitte District

The Honigfabrik is located in Wilhelmsburg, one of Hamburg's most diverse and politically active districts. Located in the Hamburg-Mitte district, Industriestraße is within walking distance of the Veddel or Wilhelmsburg S-Bahn stations. The Honigfabrik cultural centre is a member of STADTKULTUR HAMBURG and sees itself as a socio-cultural anchor in the district — with events for children, seniors, migrant communities, and the entire district public.
