Concert Series with Over 20 Years of Tradition

The Homburg Summer of Music is one of the oldest and most popular open-air concert series in Saarland. For over two decades, the Interessengemeinschaft Homburger Altstadt e.V. has transformed the Historischer Marktplatz into an open-air stage every summer — and with free admission. What began as a small concert initiative by the old town merchants is now an integral part of Saarpfalz's summer culture.

Two Series, Two Sounds

The concept has been proven and popular for years:

• Querbeat — Fridays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM: current Pop, Funk, Soul, Blues, Folk, and Rock
• Jazz Brunch — Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM: Jazz in all its forms, from traditional Dixieland to modern Big Band sound

The mix ensures a varied weekend — rocking and danceable in the evenings, jazzy and relaxed in the mornings.

Opening with X-PRESSION and the Police Big Band

The 2026 season kicks off with the Querbeat series featuring X-PRESSION, a band with two charismatic singers and four professional musicians, whose repertoire includes hits from the last three decades — motto: „Let me entertain you”. The jazz brunch opens with the Big Band der Polizei des Saarlandes (Police Big Band of Saarland), the region's most traditional jazz orchestra, performing classic Big Band music, evergreens, and film score classics.

Historischer Marktplatz as a Stage

The Historischer Marktplatz Homburg provides the ideal backdrop: surrounded by Renaissance houses, pleasingly proportioned, with open-air gastronomy in the immediate vicinity. Those who wish to enjoy the concert with a glass of Saarland wine, a Crémant from neighboring Moselle-Lorraine, or a bratwurst meal will find ample options around the square.

Saarpfalz in Summer

Visitors to the Summer of Music should plan a stay in Saarpfalz: the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, Karlsberg Castle ruins, the Pfälzer Höhleninstitut (Palatinate Cave Institute) in Homburg-Schwarzenacker, and the Roman Museum invite day trips. The Summer of Music is the ideal evening culmination.
