Volksfest in the Hop Region
The Hohenwarter Volksfest is one of the traditional summer Volksfests in the Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district in Upper Bavaria's Hallertau region. The market town of Hohenwart hosts the festival annually in July on the central Volksfest grounds, following the established sequence of Volksfests in the district – alongside Reichertshausen, Wolnzach, Manching-Oberstimm (Barthelmarkt), Pfaffenhofen, and Geisenfeld.
Beer Tent, Brass Music, Amusement Rides
Classic Volksfest setting: A central beer tent with a stage, beer service, dance floor, and brass band music forms the heart, complemented by amusement rides (carousels, bumper cars), food stalls with snacks, grilled fish on a stick, sausages, and sweet specialties, as well as shooting galleries and lotteries.
Hallertau and Hops
Hohenwart is located in the south of the Hallertau, the world's largest contiguous hop-growing region. The regional beer, the taste of hops, and the brewing tradition shape the regional identity. Naturally, a local Hallertau beer is served in the beer tent.
Market Town of Hohenwart
Hohenwart is a market town with around 5,000 inhabitants in the district of Pfaffenhofen a.d. Ilm in the Bavarian administrative region of Upper Bavaria. The market town features the former Hohenwart Castle and is conveniently located between Pfaffenhofen, Schrobenhausen, and Aichach.
