One of the largest summer village festivals in North Frisia
Over the years, the Löwenstedt Fete has become a permanent fixture of the North Frisian summer months. What began as a classic village festival is now one of the most well-attended events of its kind in the Amt Viöl and one of the most important dates in the July calendar for the Nordfriesland district.
Löwenstedt is located in the region between Husum and Flensburg, in the flat North Frisian hinterland characterised by hedges and geest ridges. The municipality belongs to the Amt Viöl and is an example of the small, tradition-conscious village communities that shape the rural north of Schleswig-Holstein. With its festival, Löwenstedt has made a name for itself far beyond the district's borders.
The association Löwenstedt Fete e.V. organises the event on a voluntary basis and puts together a programme that covers the full spectrum of a classic North German village festival: live bands on stage, DJ sets in the late evening, a well-stocked beer selection, food stalls, and dancing together under the open sky. The atmosphere is typically lively, with a mix of villagers, guests from surrounding communities – Viöl, Sollwitt, Joldelund, Wisch – and visitors from further afield in North Frisia.
The fixed date on the first Saturday in July makes the Fete a reliable start to the North Frisian festival season – after the region's folk festivals (Husumer Hafentage, Hochsommer Festspiele) and before the major August highlights such as the SHMF in the region.
According to the association, the Löwenstedt Fete 2026 will take place on the first Saturday in July, as every year – which corresponds to Saturday, July 4th, 2026. Specific detailed programmes (bands, DJ sets, times) are traditionally announced in the weeks leading up to the event via the Facebook and Instagram channels of the Löwenstedt Fete e.V. association.
Based on previous years' programmes, expect a mix of cover bands, regional acts, and DJ sets that will keep the dance floor busy from late afternoon into the night. The festival's atmosphere thrives on the community's engagement and its classic summer open-air character.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be published by the Löwenstedt Fete e.V. association in the weeks before July 4th, 2026, via the association's channels Facebook (@loewenstedtfete) and Instagram (@loewenstedt_fete). As in previous years, the programme day typically includes live performances by several bands as well as DJ sets, combined with food stalls and a well-stocked beer selection.
Admission prices for 2026 will be announced by the association via social media channels. Food and drinks available at the stalls on site.
By car: A23 from Hamburg, then B5 towards Husum, continue on B200 towards Flensburg. Löwenstedt is located about 15 km north of Husum. By train: nearest train stations are Husum or Niebüll (Marschbahn Hamburg–Westerland), from there continue by bus or taxi.
Specific admission prices for 2026 will be announced by the Löwenstedt Fete e.V. association via their Facebook and Instagram channels. Draft beer, snacks, and cocktails are available at the stalls on site.
