The Hiddenseelauf is a traditional island run on the car-free Baltic Sea island of Hiddensee. On the last Saturday in April, runners start from the Vitte sports field for distances ranging from a half marathon, a fun run, and a children's run. The route leads through the unique landscape of the island in the Vorpommern-Rügen district – with views of the Baltic Sea, the Bodden waters, and dunes. For the 28th time, the Hiddenseelauf invites participants to the car-free Baltic Sea island of Hiddensee on April 25, 2026. The start and finish are at the sports field in Vitte.

Participants can choose between several distances: a half marathon over 21.1 km, a fun run over 12.5 km, a popular hike over 12.5 km, and a Bambini run over 800 m. Registration is possible on the day of the event from 9 am on site.

Getting There

Hiddensee is car-free and can only be reached by ferry, mainly from Schaprode on Rügen and from Stralsund. From Vitte harbour, it is a few minutes' walk to the sports field.

Registration and Entry Fees

Registration is possible on the day of the event from 9 am. The entry fees are around 12 Euros for the half marathon, around 10 Euros each for the fun run and popular hike; the Bambini run is free.

Tip

As Hiddensee is car-free, travel and ferry times should be planned well in advance. Weather-appropriate clothing is recommended for the island event.
