Summer festival on one of the longest piers on the Baltic coast
The Ostseebad Prerow is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district at the western end of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Its most striking structure is the Prerow Pier: newly built in 2021 after decades of absence, its characteristic island structure juts out well over 720 meters into the Baltic Sea, making it one of the longest piers on the German Baltic coast. This very structure is the venue and namesake of the Seebrückenfest.
The Seebrückenfest is designed as a multi-generational summer festival. During the day, the focus is on a colorful family program – hands-on activities, children's entertainment, and maritime games on the beach around the pier head. In the evening, the mood changes: live music and a dance party transform the beach area into an open-air stage, with the illuminated pier forming the backdrop. Those lucky with the weather can experience the sunset over the Baltic Sea directly from the beach.
The old Prerow pier had disappeared for decades before the Baltic seaside resort regained a long-awaited landmark in 2021 with the new construction. The island structure at the end of the pier houses, among other things, a sea rescue station. Since then, the pier has become an attraction for strollers – and the Seebrückenfest celebrates this structure as the heart of Prerow's beach life.
The festival is aimed at holiday guests of the summer season as well as locals from the Darß. Families with children, couples, and beach visitors mingle for a relaxed Baltic summer evening. Admission is free, the atmosphere is casual – a typical northern beach festival without excessive tourist staging.
The Seebrückenfest is part of a packed summer program in Prerow, which includes the harbor festival »In Prerow vor Anker«, the traditional »Tonnenabschlagen« (barrel-knocking), and the open-air stage concert series. Together, these events shape Prerow's reputation as one of the liveliest Baltic seaside resorts on the Darß.
For 2026, the Seebrückenfest is scheduled for Saturday, August 15. The venue is again the area around the Prerow Pier and the adjacent beach.
The program follows the proven pattern: during the day, a family program with children's entertainment and maritime hands-on activities, in the evening, live music and a dance party directly on the beach. Food and drink stalls will provide guests with refreshments. The exact hourly program and the performing bands will be announced by the Prerow spa and tourism association shortly before the event, as is customary.
