About Heuberg-Tattoo

The Heuberg-Tattoo brings British Tattoo tradition to the Swabian Jura. Organized by the Fanfarenzug Nusplingen (reigning state champions), the second edition transforms the Kallenberg Arena into a 1000-seat stage for a unique spectacle of music, dance, choreography, formations, and singing. Drum corps, Massed Pipes, a vocal pop choir, show teams, and marching bands from Southern Germany, Hesse, Berlin, and Switzerland create an evening reminiscent of Edinburgh or Basel. A specially designed three-winged grandstand and atmospheric lighting make the event one of Baden-Württemberg's most unusual music festivals.

Tattoo Tradition on the Großer Heuberg

Nusplingen is located in the Zollernalb district at the foot of the Großer Heuberg — a high-lying karst landscape south of the Swabian Jura. The local Fanfarenzug Nusplingen, reigning state champions in marching competitions in Baden-Württemberg, has decided to bring a musical tradition deeply rooted in Great Britain to the Swabian province: the Tattoo, that strictly choreographed mix of marching bands, Massed Pipes and Drums, pop choir, and show formations known from Edinburgh, Basel, or Bremen.

The Second Heuberg-Tattoo on June 6, 2026

Following its successful debut in 2018 — which was sold out and featured 9 main acts on stage — the second edition will take place in the summer of 2026. On June 6, 2026, the Nusplingen Turn- und Festhalle (sports and community hall), deliberately nicknamed the "Kallenberg Arena" by the organizers, will be transformed into a Tattoo hall with a three-winged grandstand and seating for around 1000 guests. The concept was conceived by the young board of the Fanfarenzug, who aim to create a new platform for the region's musical youth with the Tattoo.

2026 Program — International Show Acts on the Alb

  • Wireless — Vocal pop choir from Tuttlingen with contemporary choral music
  • Mariposa — Show team from Truchtelfingen with choreographed performances
  • Show and Brass Band from Alsfeld — Marching band from Hesse
  • Bickenbach Music Corps — Show corps from Southern Germany
  • Drumline (Berlin) — Modern drum choreography
  • Drums and Pipes — Massed Pipes ensemble from Southern Germany and Switzerland
  • Alphornbläser Bäratal — Traditional alphorn music from the Swabian region
  • Musikverein Unterdigisheim — Regional brass band music
  • Fanfarenzug Nusplingen as host and highlight of the show

A Hall Transformed into an Arena

The standard Nusplingen Turn- und Festhalle will be converted for the Tattoo: a custom-designed three-winged grandstand will offer optimal views of the central performance area for approximately 1000 spectators. Lighting effects, pyrotechnics, and spatial sound enhance the atmospheric experience — drum corps and Massed Pipes create goosebumps, much like in Tattoo events in Glasgow or Bern.

Zollernalb District as a Cultural Hub

With the Heuberg-Tattoo, Nusplingen positions itself as an unusual cultural destination in the Zollernalb district — nestled between Hohenzollern and Lichtenstein castles, with the Großer Heuberg mountain range behind it and the Lautertal valley in front. The Tattoo complements the region's summer cultural program and introduces a unique show format to the Swabian Jura.

Heuberg-Tattoo — edition 2026

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Fanfarenzug Nusplingen presents the second Heuberg-Tattoo at the Kallenberg Arena. Featuring drum corps from Berlin, Drums and Pipes from Southern Germany and Switzerland, the pop choir Wireless, and show teams from Truchtelfingen, Alsfeld, and Bickenbach.

The 2nd Heuberg-Tattoo takes place on June 6, 2026, at the Kallenberg Arena Nusplingen. Doors open at 5 PM, show starts at 7 PM. A custom-designed three-winged grandstand offers seating for around 1000 guests with optimal views of the central stage area.

The show acts come from all over Southern Germany, Hesse, Berlin, and Switzerland. The program ranges from the vocal pop choir Wireless (Tuttlingen) and the show team Mariposa (Truchtelfingen) to the marching band from Alsfeld and the drumline from Berlin. The highlight is the performance of the host, Fanfarenzug Nusplingen, who will conclude the Tattoo as the reigning state champions in marching competitions.
