Tattoo Tradition on the Großer Heuberg
Nusplingen is located in the Zollernalb district at the foot of the Großer Heuberg — a high-lying karst landscape south of the Swabian Jura. The local Fanfarenzug Nusplingen, reigning state champions in marching competitions in Baden-Württemberg, has decided to bring a musical tradition deeply rooted in Great Britain to the Swabian province: the Tattoo, that strictly choreographed mix of marching bands, Massed Pipes and Drums, pop choir, and show formations known from Edinburgh, Basel, or Bremen.
The Second Heuberg-Tattoo on June 6, 2026
Following its successful debut in 2018 — which was sold out and featured 9 main acts on stage — the second edition will take place in the summer of 2026. On June 6, 2026, the Nusplingen Turn- und Festhalle (sports and community hall), deliberately nicknamed the "Kallenberg Arena" by the organizers, will be transformed into a Tattoo hall with a three-winged grandstand and seating for around 1000 guests. The concept was conceived by the young board of the Fanfarenzug, who aim to create a new platform for the region's musical youth with the Tattoo.

A Hall Transformed into an Arena
The standard Nusplingen Turn- und Festhalle will be converted for the Tattoo: a custom-designed three-winged grandstand will offer optimal views of the central performance area for approximately 1000 spectators. Lighting effects, pyrotechnics, and spatial sound enhance the atmospheric experience — drum corps and Massed Pipes create goosebumps, much like in Tattoo events in Glasgow or Bern.
Zollernalb District as a Cultural Hub
With the Heuberg-Tattoo, Nusplingen positions itself as an unusual cultural destination in the Zollernalb district — nestled between Hohenzollern and Lichtenstein castles, with the Großer Heuberg mountain range behind it and the Lautertal valley in front. The Tattoo complements the region's summer cultural program and introduces a unique show format to the Swabian Jura.
