Market Fair at the Gateway to the Fichtelgebirge
Zell im Fichtelgebirge, the "Gateway to the Fichtelgebirge" in the Hof district, holds two traditional Kirchweihen (fairs) per year – a summer fair on the Sunday after July 2nd and the Herbstkirchweih (Autumn Fair) on the Sunday after St. Gallus' Day, October 16th. Both are celebrated all day on the market square.
The Herbstkirchweih is a genuine Franconian market fair: a market with traders and stallholders fills the square, along with food and the convivial atmosphere that brings the entire market community and visitors from the northern Fichtelgebirge together. Notably: The market town of Zell charges no stall or pitch fees, making the market particularly attractive for traders and stallholders.

The Kirchweih is organised and managed by the market town of Zell. They strive to keep the market square varied to ensure the market activities remain lively. The Herbstkirchweih marks the end of the market season before winter in the Fichtelgebirge.
