Neighborhood art market in the up-and-coming Magdeburg district of Buckau — 12th edition of HEINZ
HEINZ — The Art Market is a charming example of committed neighborhood culture. The organizer is the Buckauer Kunst- und Kultur-Dilettanten e.V. (BKKD), which describes itself as a "colorful bunch of Buckau neighborhood patriots" — citizens, artists, and doers who liven up their neighborhood in southern Magdeburg with activities and events. Buckau is one of Magdeburg's currently up-and-coming districts: industrially shaped, with old warehouses, a growing art scene, and a clear trend towards gentrification, which is (still) pleasantly slowing down here.
The Buckauer Engpass is a narrow street in the district — and once a year it transforms into an art market mile. The 12th edition (HEINZ 12) brings together over 70 creative exhibitors on June 14, 2026: painters, graphic designers, photographers, jewelers, fashion designers, ceramicists, sculptors. Plus live music, food from Buckau's restaurants, and the typical neighborhood atmosphere that makes HEINZ one of the most charming dates in Magdeburg's summer calendar.
Magdeburg, the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt, has undergone remarkable development in recent years — from a heavily war-damaged industrial city to a growing university and creative city. Buckau is one of the most exciting districts: south of the Elbe, with old industrial buildings, apartments, and an active art scene. The BKKD association and HEINZ are key elements of this development — an example of how neighborhood culture can function without major sponsors. Main sponsors are municipal housing and utility companies.
Seven hours of neighborhood art in a confined space. The narrow street of Buckauer Engpass is lined with around 70 stalls — originals, prints, handmade items, wearable art, and collector's pieces. In between, music acts, food, and conversations. The art market attracts a multi-generational audience from all over Magdeburg and has been one of the state capital's most popular creative meeting points for years.
The exhibitor list will be published in advance on bkkd-md.de.
