About Heimfelder Vogelschießen

Three days of marksmen tradition in the Hamburg district of Heimfeld: Grand Zapfenstreich (military tattoo) in front of the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle on Friday, children's festival and Summer Beats Party on Saturday, citizens' and king's shooting on Sunday, proclamation of the new majesties in the evening. The organizer is the Heimfelder Schützenverein von 1890 e.V. — and its Vogelschießen traditionally marks the end of the Harburg shooting season. In 2026, the event runs from August 21st to 23rd.

The Finale of the Harburg Shooting Season

When the Heimfelder Vogelschießen takes place, the shooting season in the Harburg district is almost over. It is traditionally the last major Vogelschießen event of the year in the south of Hamburg — and thus the cozy, almost melancholic conclusion to a summer full of Schützenfeste in Marmstorf, Neuenfelde, Rönneburg, and Eißendorf.

The Heimfelder Schützenverein von 1890

The organizer is the Heimfelder Schützenverein von 1890 e.V. — one of the oldest marksmen's clubs in southern Hamburg. Club life revolves around the annual king's proclamation and the Vogelschießen; currently, the Queen and her court lead the club through the current year.

Program: Three Days of Tradition

  • Friday: Grand Zapfenstreich in front of the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, 9:00 PM
  • Saturday: Children's festival in the afternoon (children aged 3 to 12, 3:30 PM); Summer Beats Party in the evening with DJ — Admission €10 plus €3 consumption fee, 8:00 PM
  • Sunday: King's shooting from 8:00 AM, reception and festive dinner 10:00 AM, King's proclamation 8:00 PM, followed by a festive ball with free admission

In the Harburg District

Heimfeld is located in the Hamburg-Harburg district, south of the Elbe, on the edge of the Harburg Mountains. The festival grounds are at Heimfelder Straße 120, in close proximity to the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, which is used for the Grand Zapfenstreich on Friday evening. Easily accessible by bus or from S-Bahn Harburg, about 20 minutes from Hamburg city center.

Heimfelder Vogelschießen — edition 2026

From August 21st to 23rd, 2026, the Heimfelder Schützenverein von 1890 will celebrate its Vogelschießen — three days of tradition with a Grand Zapfenstreich on Friday, a children's festival and Summer Beats Party on Saturday, and king's shooting with a festive ball on Sunday. This marks the end of the 2026 Harburg shooting season.

The Heimfelder Vogelschießen 2026 runs from Friday to Sunday at the festival grounds on Heimfelder Straße.
