About Heimfeld Neighborhood Festival
Heimfeld Neighborhood Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition follows the proven format: Thursday afternoon, 2 PM to 6 PM, around Friedrich-Naumann-Platz. The organizer is, as always, the Heimfelder Stadtteilverein. The exact date will be communicated a few weeks in advance on heimfeld.de and via the association's Facebook page.
In 2026, clubs, initiatives, and educational institutions will again be the focus: schools, kindergartens, church communities, and the neighborhood management will use the festival to introduce themselves and create participatory activities.

Heimfeld — Hamburg's Green South
In the south of Hamburg, at the foot of the Harburg Mountains, lies the district of Heimfeld in the Harburg district. Heimfeld is characterized by students (the Hamburg University of Technology is nearby), but also by residential areas with a long history and an active neighborhood community. The Heimfelder Stadtteilverein (Heimfeld Neighborhood Association) brings this community together every September for the Heimfeld Neighborhood Festival.
Four Hours of Pure Neighborhood
The festival typically runs from 2 PM to 6 PM — afternoon and family-friendly. The venue is Friedrich-Naumann-Platz and the adjacent streets, a five-minute walk from the Heimfeld S-Bahn station. Music groups take turns on stage; around them, you'll find:
- Booths from local clubs and institutions
- International specialties and street food
- Café and barbecue
- Flea market — both adults and children can sell
- Activity booths for children (movement games, GRÜN(T)RAUM seed and vegetable quiz)
More Neighborhood Festival than Volksfest
Unlike the major Hamburg city festivals, the Heimfeld festival consciously focuses on the neighborhood connection. Schools, kindergartens, church communities, clubs, and initiatives from the area present themselves here — not professional showmen. Those who live in Heimfeld meet their neighbors; those who come from outside get to know a district.
Organizers and Philosophy
The organizer is the Heimfelder Stadtteilverein, a volunteer-run association that has been organizing the festival for over two decades. The association also sees the festival as a platform for neighborhood engagement: anyone who wants to get involved can sign up to run a booth or fill the stage with a performance.
Tradition with Adaptations
Classically, the festival takes place on a Thursday afternoon in early September. The exact date varies depending on the school calendar and weather forecast but is announced in good time on heimfeld.de.
