Harburg's Summer Culture Highlight
Harburg City Park, in the south of Hamburg, is one of the Hanseatic city's most beautiful urban parks. With its 100th anniversary in 2026 – the park was established in 1926 – the area holds historical significance. In the middle of the park: a traditional open-air stage that has hosted cultural open-air events for decades.
Six Days of Programming Across Many Genres
The festival "Sommer im Park" is taking place for the ninth time in 2026 and offers a deliberately diverse program:
- Music: from local heroes to Hamburg's stars
- Theatre: stage plays and readings
- Dance: contemporary and classical choreographies
- Comedy: stand-up and cabaret
- Sports Workshops: movement in the park
- Poetry Slam: for the spoken word scene
- Yoga: morning sessions in the green
Confirmed Acts 2026
Two highly regarded local acts have already been confirmed:
- Lotto King Karl on July 24, 2026 – the Hamburg singer with cult status, known for his appearance before every HSV match at the Volksparkstadion
- Inga Rumpf & Friends on July 27, 2026 – Hamburg's blues-soul legend with fellow musicians
Support and Funding
The festival is jointly funded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Harburg District, and the Sparkasse Harburg-Buxtehude. This public-private partnership allows for comparatively low ticket prices – the festival positions itself as Hamburg's most affordable high-quality summer cultural series.
Harburg in the Harburg District
With approximately 165,000 inhabitants, Harburg is one of Hamburg's largest districts, but it is located south of the Elbe and is often perceived as the "other half of Hamburg." The City Park, with its 100-year history and open-air stage, is a central place of identity. Sommer im Park is Harburg's annual statement that cultural diversity does not only take place in the northern districts.
