Culture in the North Sea Wind

With the slogan “Kultur im Nordseewind” (Culture in the North Sea Wind), the Heider KulTour Tage have become a firm fixture on the Pentecost weekend calendar in Heide — the district town of Dithmarschen in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The festival is deliberately designed to be cross-genre: art, music, theatre, literature, and participatory formats are given equal prominence.

What to Expect

The KulTour Tage are spread across several venues in Heide's town centre — churches, cultural centres, galleries, public squares. Programme items include:

• Concerts — from classical, jazz, indie, and singer-songwriter to world music
• Theatre & Children's Theatre — local and national groups
• Cinema — curated film programmes
• Exhibitions — artists from Heide and the West Coast
• Readings and Poetry Slams
• Workshops and participatory formats for all age groups

A Citizen Initiative

The organiser is Kultur hilft! e.V., led by Jürgen Breuninger — an association that aims to bring local cultural creators, schools, associations, and initiatives together under one festival roof. The programme is balanced between partly free (donation basis) and partly paid events to make culture as accessible as possible.

Heide on Pentecost Weekend

Pentecost is traditionally a key tourist period in Schleswig-Holstein — the KulTour Tage provide a cultural anchor for the extended weekend in Heide's town centre. While Heide's market square, the largest undeveloped market square in Germany, is usually filled with fairs and markets on other weekends, during KulTour it is used for stages, reading desks, and children's activities — a completely different identity.
