Two weekends of arts and crafts in one of Berlin's most beautiful settings – on Schloßstraße opposite Charlottenburg Palace, free admission
Charlottenburg Palace is the largest preserved palace complex in Berlin. Built at the end of the 17th century as a summer residence for Sophie Charlotte, it remains one of Berlin's most important landmarks and a major tourist magnet in the west of the city. Schloßstraße – a tree-lined avenue running in a straight line from Spandauer Damm to Zillestraße – connects the palace complex with the Charlottenburg urban area.
Cornelja Hasler uses Schloßstraße twice a year to gather German and international artisans and present them in open stalls along a double-sided avenue. The curatorial line clearly aims for high-quality arts and crafts: ceramics and porcelain (from Berlin and North German manufacturers, as well as international workshops), jewelry (handmade, with a particular focus on contemporary design), textile crafts, glasswork, designer pieces made of metal, wood, or concrete.
The format is designed as a twice-yearly ritual: a summer date (early June) and an autumn date (early September). Both weekends are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm. Admission is free. This frequency is deliberate – it allows artisans to present their summer or autumn collections appropriate to the season.
Charlottenburg is considered a bourgeois, well-kept Berlin neighborhood with a long tradition of education and culture – University of the Arts, Deutsche Oper, Palace, Brandenburg Gate near Ku'damm. Visitors to the Berliner Kunstallee can complement their market visit with a stroll through the Charlottenburg Palace Gardens or visit the collections inside the palace itself.
The 2026 edition follows the established format of the Berliner Kunstallee: Schloßstraße, directly in front of Charlottenburg Palace, transforms into an open arts and crafts avenue for two weekends. Stalls of artisans line both sides of the tree-lined street, with a clear curatorial focus on quality design.
The summer edition (June 6/7) typically marks the first highlight of the outdoor season; the autumn edition (September 5/6) kicks off the autumn and advent season. Both weekends are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm. In case of rain, the market usually remains open – the stalls are covered.
A list of exhibitors will be published by the organizer approximately one month before each event.
