Consumer fair on garden, home, leisure, and energy
The Kasseler Frühjahrs-Ausstellung is one of the most important regional trade fair events in Northern Hesse. Every year at the end of February/beginning of March, the Messe Kassel – the exhibition halls on the outskirts south of the train station – opens its doors for nine days for a broad consumer fair. The concept is not aimed at trade visitors, but at end consumers who want to inform themselves about trends, products, and services before the upcoming spring and garden season.
The exhibition bundles thematic areas under one roof that fit the transition period from winter to spring: Garden and natural space, Construction and building components, Creative workshop and crafts, Kitchen and living, My garden, Leisure and culinary arts, New energies and automobiles, and a Children's area with its own program. This breadth makes the fair a consumer fair in the classic sense – consumers come, inform themselves, and buy directly on site.
The highlight of the Spring Exhibition is the landscaped garden outdoor area: 10,000 blossoms in five differently designed garden areas serve as creative inspiration for hobby gardeners. Practical and beautiful products are showcased, complemented by oversized copper insects (bees, beetles), a photo art exhibition with floral fairy tale motifs, and giant fantasy flowers, dragonflies, and geckos floating under the hall ceiling. This theatrical staging sets the Spring Exhibition apart from the average trade fair appearance.
Every year, the Spring Exhibition features a special focus. In 2026, Halls 10 and 11 will be dedicated to the theme "Hola, Mallorca" – with contributions about the island, culinary highlights from Mallorcan cuisine, and an extensive supporting program. This fits the fair's function as a "travel inspiration event" in the pre-season: those who buy here are often already planning their summer vacation.
The Spring Exhibition emphasizes family-friendliness: free childcare is organized, and leashed dogs are welcome. With family ticket prices (€14 for 2 adults and up to 4 children), the fair is also financially designed as a family outing.
With tens of thousands of visitors annually, the Spring Exhibition is the most important consumer event in the Northern Hesse trade fair calendar. It attracts visitors from the Schwalm-Eder district, the Werra-Meißner district, the Kassel district, and partly from southern Lower Saxony. For regional exhibitors in the garden and craft sectors, it is an important platform.
The 2026 edition runs in the proven 9-day format from the Saturday of the last week of February to the Sunday of the first week of March. Focus areas are garden, construction, living, and energy. The Mallorca special forms the thematic highlight of the year.
