Premiere of the new city festival — Experience mile through the districts
In 2026, Rheinstetten is launching a new city festival format called StadtErlebnis. It replaces the previous Sunday shopping event — a classic format that focused solely on retail. The new format is broader: an experience mile, culture, social interaction, a community city festival with participation from clubs, schools, churches, cultural creators, and restaurateurs — and of course, retail too.
Rheinstetten was formed in 1975 from the three municipalities of Forchheim, Mörsch, and Neuburgweier. The StadtErlebnis connects the three districts for the first time in a continuous experience mile: from the Forchheim bus stop in the north, via the New City Center, to the Mörsch Technical Town Hall in the south. Three event zones with different focuses — family program in Forchheim, central stage in the city center, crafts and clubs in Mörsch.
The program runs from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The city's shops will open their doors — as with the classic Sunday shopping event. In parallel, performances by schools and clubs, stands from local restaurateurs, and hands-on activities for children and families will take place on the squares and at various stations.
A special feature: during the StadtErlebnis, all buses and S-Bahn trains within the Rheinstetten city area are free. This makes it easy to reach the three districts without a car — visitors don't have to re-park between locations. An environmentally friendly solution that promotes community.
The event is organized by a cooperation of three stakeholders: the City of Rheinstetten as the municipal body, the Gewerbeverein Rheinstetten e.V. for retail, and Wir sind Rheinstetten e.V. as a civil society partner. This constellation aims to establish the format as a broadly supported citizens' festival.
The StadtErlebnis 2026 is the first of its kind in Rheinstetten. It replaces the traditional Sunday shopping event with a festival format that unites retail, culture, clubs, families, and gastronomy into a holistic city festival.
The experience mile runs from the Forchheim bus stop in the north, via the New City Center, to the Mörsch Technical Town Hall in the south — the three historic Rheinstetten districts are integrated into a continuous festival axis for the first time.
