Ten days of Ferris wheel, beer tent, and family entertainment in Brenzpark
When the fairy lights go on over Nördlinger Straße in June, one of the most popular city festivals in Baden-Württemberg begins on the festival grounds at Brenzpark. The Heidenheimer Volksfest attracts visitors from the entire Heidenheim district as well as from the adjacent regions of Ostwürttemberg and Donau-Ries for ten days. You'll find the classic trio of a Swabian Volksfest here: tall rides that guarantee dizziness, gentler rides for the little ones, and a large beer tent where the atmosphere heats up in the evenings.
The showmen come together anew each year, bringing a mix of high-speed rides, family carousels, and skill games. Classics like bumper cars, the Ferris wheel, and the chain carousel are just as much a part of it as thrilling action rides. In addition, there are shooting galleries, lottery stalls, and candy stands — from sugary cotton candy to freshly roasted almonds.
Two days stand out each year: On Family Day on Wednesday, there are reduced prices on the entire festival grounds, perfect for an afternoon outing with children. Ladies' Night on Monday evening is a well-established Heidenheim ritual — women pay once and ride twice at participating attractions, the fun starts at 7 p.m.
The Heidenheimer Volksfest benefits from one of the most beautiful festival ground backdrops in southern Germany: the Brenzpark, a former state garden show site directly on the Brenz river, with the medieval silhouette of Hellenstein Castle in the background. Tradition, family-friendliness, and a touch of Volksfest romance make the festival a must-attend event in the Brenz region's summer calendar.
From June 12th to 21st, 2026, the festival grounds in Brenzpark will once again become the meeting point for families, beer tent fans, and showman enthusiasts. The city of Heidenheim and the showman community are bringing a mix of fast-paced high-speed rides, nostalgic children's carousels, and skill games to the festival grounds on Nördlinger Straße. In the festival tent, live bands and DJs will ensure a lively atmosphere, while the beer garden will serve regional specialties and freshly tapped beer.
