Traditional Hedelfingen Kirchweih with wine festival in the Kelter and large market
The Hedelfinger Herbst is one of the liveliest district festivals in eastern Stuttgart. The Weingärtnergenossenschaft Hedelfingen eG, one of the oldest cooperative wineries in the Stuttgart city area, has established the festival over the years. It combines the traditional Kirbe — the Kirchweih Sunday of the district church — with an extensive wine festival in the historic Kelter Hedelfingen and a large Krämermarkt in the district's main streets.
The festival Sunday begins at 10 a.m. with the Protestant church service in Hedelfingen's district church. At 1:30 p.m., the traditional Kirbe parade sets off — music clubs, traditional costume groups, kindergarten groups, associations, and the board of the Winegrowers' Cooperative march through the district. The destination is the Kelter Hedelfingen, where the wine festival has been running since the morning: Trollinger, Lemberger, Spätburgunder, Weisser Burgunder, and Rieslings from the Hedelfingen vineyards are served, along with Swabian specialties like Maultaschen, Käsespätzle, and sausages from local butchers.
On the following weekday — usually Tuesday — the traditional Krämermarkt takes place. Starting at 9 a.m., Heumadener Straße, Amstetter Straße, and Fruchtstraße fill with market stalls. Textiles, household goods, toys, tools, jewelry, sweets, regional specialties, and food stalls make up the market offerings. The Krämermarkt is one of Stuttgart's best-known district markets and attracts visitors from the entire Neckar valley.
Hedelfingen is a district in eastern Stuttgart, located on the right bank of the Neckar between Wangen and Obertürkheim. Winegrowing has shaped the district for centuries — the Hedelfingen vineyards stretch up the slope and are among the small but high-quality sites of Stuttgart's viticulture. The Hedelfingen Winegrowers' Cooperative unites a large portion of the Hedelfingen wine families and markets the wines cooperatively. The Hedelfinger Herbst is the annual showcase of this vibrant winegrowing tradition.
The Hedelfingen festival days 2026 combine wine, tradition, and market. Sunday, August 30, is dedicated to the Kirbe and the wine festival in the Kelter, while Tuesday, September 1, brings the large Krämermarkt to the district's main streets. The Hedelfingen Winegrowers' Cooperative, together with local associations and church communities, organizes the traditional program points.
