Summer city festival with music, shopping, and art until midnight
The Haßfurt Long Night is the most important summer city festival in the Lower Franconian district town of Haßfurt. The town on the Main river, district capital of the Haßberge district, invites you to an all-day festival in the old town on a Friday in early July — shopping, music, art, and gastronomy combine to create a long summer night until midnight.
The town center largely becomes a pedestrian zone for the festival. Four music stages are spread across the central squares and streets: Marktplatz, Hauptstraße, Brückenstraße, and Floriansplatz. The musical program ranges from cover and party bands to acoustic sets and DJ sounds — mostly regional musicians are booked, who are well-connected with the local audience.
A key feature of the Long Night: the shops in the town center — from fashion boutiques and bookstores to jewelry artisans and specialty stores — remain open until midnight. Many retailers offer special promotions, small snack stations, and tastings. The combination of a city festival and extended shopping hours makes the format economically successful and an important date in the annual calendar for the town center.
Additionally, Haßfurt's galleries and studios open their doors — similar to a museum night. Art exhibitions in shop premises, vernissages, and live performances bring the cultural dimension to the festival. For families, there is a children's program in the early evening, face painting, bouncy castles, and specifically family-friendly stages. The old town's gastronomy — from Franconian inns and ice cream parlors to Mediterranean cuisine and wine bars — benefits from the high turnout and usually offers extended menus.
Haßfurt, with a population of just over 13,000, is located on the lower Main river between Schweinfurt and Bamberg. The old town with Bachgasse, Bürgerspitalkirche, and the striking 14th-century town hall forms the backdrop for the Long Night. The organizer is the Aktionskreis Haßfurt Aktiv (AHA), an association of retailers, restaurateurs, and cultural practitioners in the town.
The Long Night 2026 runs on Friday, July 3, from 6 PM to 12 AM. The old town will largely become a pedestrian zone for the festival, with four music stages spread across the central squares: Marktplatz, Hauptstraße, Brückenstraße, and Floriansplatz.
Shops and galleries will be open until midnight — a tradition that has shaped the festival since its beginnings. Haßfurt's gastronomy will offer extended menus and outdoor seating. Families will find targeted program items in the early evening.
