Largest Spring Market in the Bergisches Land

The traditional Botanical Garden and Flower Market has been the largest spring market in the Bergisches Land region for years. On the first May weekend — Saturday May 2, 2026, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday May 3, 2026, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. — over 100 exhibitors will transform the listed Botanical Garden at Vogelsang 2a into a blooming marketplace. The concept combines plant sales, garden art, arts and crafts, and culinary offerings in the special setting of a historic show garden.

Plants, Herbs, Carnivorous Rarities

The plant market itself is the centerpiece: perennials, cottage garden classics, herbs, succulents, carnivorous plants, and rare tomato plant varieties. Specialized nurseries from the Bergisches Land, Rhineland, and Lower Rhine regions will present assortments rarely found in regular garden centers. The focus is on insect-friendly plants and old cultivated varieties.

Arts and Crafts and Natural Products

In addition to the plant stalls, there is a diverse range of arts and crafts:

  • Honey from regional beekeepers and beeswax products
  • Homemade jams and preserves
  • Natural cosmetics and soaps
  • Ceramics, jewelry, glass art
  • Steel sculptures and garden decorations
  • Garden furniture made of wood and metal
  • Cheese from regional farms

Live Music Both Days

A musical program will accompany the market on both days:

  • Saturday, May 2: Harmonica Orchestra „Bergisches Echo“ 11 a.m.–1 p.m., followed by Flori Dixi Jazz Band 2 p.m.–6 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 3: Welcome address 11:30 a.m., Woodstock & More 12 p.m.–2 p.m., Magnolia Jazzband 3 p.m.–6 p.m.

Grand Garden Raffle, Carousel, and Children's Program

A traditional grand garden raffle supports the preservation of the Botanical Garden. For families, there is a historic carousel, children's games, and creative hands-on activities. Food stalls will provide culinary catering with bratwurst, grilled specialties, and coffee and cake stations — all proceeds go to the preservation of the listed garden.

Botanical Garden Solingen — Historic Show Garden

The Botanical Garden Solingen at Vogelsang is a volunteer-run facility from the 1960s focusing on the plant world of the Bergisches Land, cottage gardens, and historic cultivated plants. With the annual Garden and Flower Market, the association finances the majority of its operating costs. Solingen — the "Klingenstadt" (City of Blades) in the Bergisches Land — is a worthwhile excursion destination with the Botanical Garden, the Müngstener Brücken Park, and Schloss Burg.

Garden and Flower Market Solingen — edition 2026

The Botanical Garden and Flower Market 2026 runs on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day in the Botanical Garden Solingen (Vogelsang 2a). Over 100 exhibitors with plants, herbs, honey, arts and crafts, and garden furniture. Live music on both days: Bergisches Echo, Flori Dixi Jazz, Woodstock & More, Magnolia Jazzband. Free admission, donations welcome.

Spring Market 2026 — Bigger Than Ever

The 2026 edition, with over 100 exhibitors, is the largest and most diverse in the market's history to date. Focus areas: art from natural products, carnivorous plants, rare tomato varieties, regional honeys, and cottage garden perennials.

Music Program and Raffle

Live bands will accompany market operations on both days. The traditional grand garden raffle once again supports the volunteer-run garden.
