Largest downtown festival in the Maintal of the Haßberge
The Haßfurt Street Festival is one of the classics on the Lower Franconian event calendar. Since the early 1980s, the old town of Haßfurt has been transformed into a festival mile once a year at the beginning of October for a long weekend – in 2026, this will be the 47th edition. The festival is supported by the Straßenfest-Förderverein Haßfurt (Haßfurt Street Festival Support Association), which involves Haßfurt's businesses, clubs, and the city administration.
The festival mile stretches through the city center, which is closed to traffic: from the market square with the main stage, along the main street, to Floriansplatz and Brückenstraße. Four stages provide a varied program of live music, dance, and show acts. More than 100 stalls from Haßfurt shops, restaurateurs, and clubs offer special deals, food, and drinks.
The street festival marks the beginning of the Federweißer (young wine) season – fresh Zwiebelplotz (onion cake) with Federweißer is therefore a culinary highlight. In addition, there are Flammkuchen (tarte flambée), Handbrot (filled bread), burgers, Bratwurst, and numerous international specialties.
Haßfurt is the district capital of the Landkreis Haßberge (Haßberge district) in Lower Franconia (Bavaria) and is located on the Main River between Schweinfurt and Bamberg. The old town with its two medieval gate towers, the Ritterkapelle (Knights' Chapel), and the town hall forms an impressive backdrop for the street festival. The weekend traditionally falls on German Unity Day (October 3rd), which also features Sunday shopping.
The 47th Haßfurt Street Festival is officially announced for Friday, October 2nd, and Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 (German Unity Day). The venue is the old town of Haßfurt, closed to traffic, with the market square, main street, Brückenstraße, and Floriansplatz.
As in previous years, the support association, local businesses, and clubs will set up four stages between the two gate towers. The main stage at the market square will feature a continuous program with dance, shows, and a live band in the evening; smaller stages will host brass bands, singer-songwriters, and regional artists.
Over 100 stalls will offer culinary specialties – especially Federweißer with Zwiebelplotz – special sales from Haßfurt shops, and offerings from the partner city of Pierrelatte. The traditional children's flea market will take place on Brückenstraße. As October 3rd is a public holiday, Haßfurt shops will be open for business on Friday.
Free admission to the entire festival grounds. Food, drinks, and market goods are paid for at the stalls.
By train: Haßfurt station (Würzburg–Bamberg line), a ten-minute walk to the old town. By car: A70 exit Haßfurt, parking around the city center (the old town is closed to traffic during the festival).
Free admission to all stages and the festival mile.
The Sunday shopping (German Unity Day holiday) coincides with the street festival – Haßfurt shops are open.
