Book fair and literary festival in the Strandhalle
Since 2001, the Ahrenshoop Literary Days have annually gathered around 15 publishers in the Strandhalle Ahrenshoop. The thematic focus is on literature from and about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, and the Baltic seaside resort of Ahrenshoop. In addition, publishers of fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and art books are represented.
Accompanying the book fair, author readings take place at various locations in the Baltic seaside resort – at THE GRAND, in galleries, guesthouses, and cafés. Authors read from their current works and are available for discussions. The intimate atmosphere of the late autumn coastal landscape makes the readings a special experience.
A specialty of the Literary Days are artfully designed books: handmade paper with screen-print illustrations, original graphic books, prints, cards, and portfolios in woodcut, linocut, or monotype techniques. Literature and visual arts are thus interwoven to create a distinctive profile.
Ahrenshoop is located on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in the Vorpommern-Rügen district (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) and has been an artists' colony for over a century. The Literary Days fit seamlessly into the cultural heritage of the place and attract book lovers from Berlin, Hamburg, Rostock, and all of Northern Germany.
The 2026 Ahrenshoop Literary Days will open their doors from October 2nd to 4th in the Strandhalle Ahrenshoop (Dorfstraße 16 b). Around 15 publishers will present new releases and backlist titles at the largest book fair in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – with a thematic focus on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, and the Baltic seaside resort of Ahrenshoop.
Accompanying the fair, readings will take place at various locations in the artists' village. A specialty remains the artfully designed books made from handmade paper with screen-print illustrations, original graphic books, as well as prints and portfolios in woodcut, linocut, or monotype techniques. The exact programme will be published from mid-September on the festival website.
Admission to the book fair is generally free. Individual readings are subject to a charge. Programme and tickets, if applicable, from mid-September 2026 on the festival website.
