Harburg's Sunday Tradition

The Sundays of experiences have been the hallmark of Harburg's city center for years – the southern district of Hamburg on the other side of the Süderelbe. Every year, Harburg Marketing e.V. organizes four Sundays with open shopping, each under its own motto. The third date in 2026 is dedicated to the family: 'Harburg has space for families!'.

Family Program on Open Sunday

While the local retailers around Sand, Lüneburger Straße, and Schloßmühlendamm open their doors, a family program runs in the city center: stage shows for children, game stations, craft and hands-on activities, culinary stands, and participatory offerings from Harburg associations. Free admission.

Four Mottos, One Year

The other Sundays of experiences in 2026 are under the mottos Sport (January 4), Diversity (March 29), and Culture (November 8). With the family format in September, the event specifically targets young parents from all over southern Hamburg – a clear signal that Harburg's city center aims to be not only a shopping center but also a family center.

Harburg District

Harburg is Hamburg's southernmost district, with its own history as a former Prussian town and part of Hamburg since 1937. The city center around Sand is easily accessible via S-Bahn and regional train (Harburg Rathaus). Park garages are available in the city center.
