Three days of Halal culinary delights from around the world at Komplex Berlin in Friedrichshain
The Halal Food Festival Berlin is inspired by the World Halal Food Festival in London, which has been Europe's largest Halal festival since 2014. In Berlin, the format is finding a growing audience — the capital has a diverse Muslim community with roots in Turkey, the Arab world, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa, as well as a growing Muslim middle class seeking high-quality Halal food.
More than 75 exhibitors present Halal products and cuisines on 6000 m² at Komplex Berlin: food trucks and stalls with dishes from around the world — from Turkish Manti to Syrian Mezze, Moroccan Tagines, Pakistani Biryanis, and Indonesian Nasi Goreng variations. In addition, a Halal Souq with food, spices, cosmetics, fashion, and book stalls. Workshops and talks provide knowledge about the Halal scene, Halal certification standards, sustainability, and ethics. A mosque zone (masjid area) offers prayer rooms, and there are also children's play areas.
Komplex Berlin at Modersohnstraße 35–45 is one of Berlin's largest multi-purpose halls, located in eastern Friedrichshain near the border with Lichtenberg. With its industrial architecture spaces and flexible hall structure, it is a frequent venue for large trade fairs and festivals. The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district is one of Berlin's youngest and most ethnically diverse districts — a location that fits well with the festival's content.
