Unreal Summer Weekender — 40 Hours of Techno

The Unreal Summer Weekender is the summer edition of the Unreal techno series at JunkYard Dortmund. From Friday, July 17th, 2026, 2 PM, to Sunday, July 19th, 2026, 6 AM, the marathon runs with alternating Day & Night Sessions — a continuous 40-hour program on the JunkYard grounds.

The Concept — Alternating Day & Night

The program is divided into four sessions:

• Friday Day (2 PM–10 PM) — Open-air kickoff on the JunkYard main floor
• Friday Night (10 PM–6 AM) — Indoor floor with harder sets
• Saturday Day (2 PM–10 PM) — Open air again, new DJ selection
• Saturday Night (10 PM–6 AM) — Finale night with headliners

The sessions are intertwined between these times — the floor never pauses.

Open Air and Indoor — The JunkYard Specialty

As a former junkyard, JunkYard offers a rare combination: a large open-air area and an industrial indoor floor. This allows the Unreal Weekender to run regardless of the weather and simultaneously showcase both atmospheres — sunset open-air and nocturnal industrial floor.

Techno Scene and JunkYard

Besides its heavy rock bookings (see JunkYard Open Air), JunkYard has established itself as an important venue for the Ruhr region's techno scene. With events like the Unreal series, the aftershow of the PollerWiesen festival, and year-round techno programming, it completes the picture of JunkYard as an unusual multi-genre location. The industrial aesthetic makes the site the perfect stage for techno sounds.

Ages 18 and Up — Not a Family Event

The Unreal Summer Weekender is strictly an adult event. With the 18+ age limit and continuous programming, the festival clearly positions itself as an underground marathon — unlike, for example, PollerWiesen, which also allows a 16+ audience.

Dortmund-Huckarde — Industrial Site Becomes Techno Destination

The district of Huckarde, with its industrial heritage (formerly Hansa colliery, now an industrial monument), is today one of Dortmund's most exciting concert venues (independent city in North Rhine-Westphalia). JunkYard is the musical flagship of this transformation — from a hard-working site to a techno mecca.
