30 Years of Strings by the Sea
Started in 1997 as a small concert format in the Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn, the guitar festival has developed into a fixture of the international guitar scene over three decades. The 30th edition in 2026 marks an anniversary that is remarkable for its consistency in a Baltic seaside resort.
Genre Diversity as a Program
What distinguishes the festival: It is not a festival of a single style, but an entire week where each evening is dedicated to a different genre of guitar playing. Classical guitar and Flamenco are presented alongside Fingerstyle and Folk, Gypsy Swing meets Blues, and classical concert guitar is featured alongside Jazz. This creates a cross-section of the guitar world — rarely experienced with such breadth and density.
Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn as the Venue
All concerts take place in the Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn at Ostseeallee 48. The hall, with its sea view, intentionally accommodates a maximum of 100 guests. The format is intimate, almost like a living room concert. Concerts begin at 8:00 PM each evening; tickets are exclusively available in advance.
International Standard
The 2026 lineup includes Lulo Reinhardt (Sinti Jazz and Classical) with Yuliya Lonskaya, Czech guitarist Ladislav Pazdera (Folk, Pop, Flamenco, Neoclassical), the duo Arne Jansen and Stephan Braun with "Short Stories," and Abi Wallenstein — the "Father of the Hamburg Blues Scene" — with "Groovin the Blues." Additional acts like Valeria Galimova (Russia) and Volker Luft (Germany) complete the festival week.
