The International Summer Festival is one of the most important meeting formats at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. It brings together the international university community with students and staff from all departments, with families, and with guests from the city.
SSC/A14 Meadow — Campus Unipark
The venue is the open SSC/A14 meadow in the university's Unipark. The spacious lawn provides space for a stage, market stalls, seating areas, and the evening open-air cinema.
Intercultural Marketplace
Students from all over the world present their home cultures — with food, drinks, music, information, and small sales stands. The marketplace is the heart of the festival and makes the international composition of the university visible and tangible for everyone.
Stage Programme
Music, dance, and theatre alternate on stage. Student groups, university choirs, international dance groups, and theatre ensembles showcase their work — from classical music and folklore to contemporary styles.
Open-Air Cinema
As dusk falls, the open-air cinema begins. International films — often in their original language with subtitles — form the evening's highlight.
Flea Market
A flea market complements the event. Students offer used books, furniture, clothing, and household items — a charming component that grounds the festival and makes it relatable to everyday life.
International Office as Organiser
The event is organised by the International Office of the University of Oldenburg, which is responsible for international mobility, support, and networking. The Summer Festival is the culmination of a year of international activities.
