Traditional May festival of the Seesportclub Rangsdorf on Rangsdorfer See
The Rangsdorfer See — located south of Berlin in the Teltow-Fläming district — has been an important center of Brandenburg water sports for almost 100 years. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry flew his seaplane here, the GDR national sailing team trained here, and the Seesportclub Rangsdorf e.V. (SSCRA) has established itself as one of the most traditional clubs in Brandenburg. On May 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the SSCRA invites you to the 29th Hafenfest — an opening celebration for the water sports season and for the Brandenburg spring sunshine.
The Hafenfest combines a maritime experience with an open club day. Visitors can embark on cutter trips across Rangsdorfer See, watch or even participate in seafaring activities on land — from tying knots and splicing ropes to setting small sails. Those interested in sailing training can get information at the club's booth — the SSCRA has been training young people and adults in sailing for decades.
In addition to the maritime program, a small, cozy festival creates the atmosphere: live music — sea shanties, folk, acoustic bands from the region — and culinary offerings with grilled fish, bratwurst, homemade salads, coffee, cake, and drinks from the club's kitchen. A relaxed atmosphere where club members, day-trippers from Berlin, and residents from the southern commuter belt meet.
Access to the club grounds is not entirely straightforward: You drive through the Zinnowitzer Weg behind the Birkenallee sports field. This small hurdle is part of the charm — the Hafenfest is an insider tip that is recommended by word of mouth. Those who find the way will be rewarded with a day by the lake: wide meadows, clear water, sailboats at the jetty, and a club culture that has grown on Rangsdorfer See since the 1920s.
Rangsdorf belongs to the Teltow-Fläming district and is directly connected to Berlin via the S-Bahn line S2 — an ideal location for day trips into the Brandenburg countryside. With around 240 hectares, Rangsdorfer See is one of the largest lakes in the southern Berlin commuter belt and an important local recreation area. The 29th Hafenfest 2026 is one of the oldest regularly held May festivals in southern Berlin.
