Two-day intercultural mini-festival at südpunkt
HABI(BI)TAT is a two-day intercultural mini-festival taking place at südpunkt – the Forum for Education and Culture in Nuremberg's Südstadt. The name plays on the terms 'Habitat' (living space) and 'Habibi' (darling), perfectly capturing the festival's aim: to create a space where people of diverse backgrounds feel at home.
HABI(BI)TAT explicitly positions itself as a platform for Black and PoC communities. Through art, music, and other cultural expressions, the festival gives visibility to artists and communities often underrepresented in the mainstream cultural scene. It connects institutional cultural work with the everyday life of the Südstadt, making interculturalism tangible.
Nuremberg's Südstadt is one of the most diverse and vibrant districts in the Bavarian city. With its history marked by migration, it is an ideal location for a festival that not only addresses diversity but celebrates it. The südpunkt, located on Pillenreuther Straße, is firmly anchored in the neighborhood as an educational and cultural center.
Over two days, HABI(BI)TAT offers a rich program of music, art, performance, and interaction. The festival is designed to be accessible and intentionally invites all generations and communities to celebrate, listen, and engage in conversation together. The organizers are südpunkt (KUF – Culture and Leisure of the City of Nuremberg) in partnership with the Südstadt community.
