Three Weeks of Festival Under the Big Top

The Zeltfestival Rhein-Neckar — ZFRN for short — is Mannheim's most important open-air pop festival. The organizer is Zeltfestival Rhein-Neckar GmbH, which has organized the festival annually at the Maimarktgelände in Mannheim's Neckarau district since 2016. The venue is a large big top (festival tent) as well as an open-air stage — a mix of a classic festival setting and a covered concert atmosphere, making the festival weather-independent. Concerts, comedy performances, cabaret, and special formats are spread over three weeks.

Anniversary Edition 2026 — 10 Years of ZFRN

The 2026 edition marks the 10th anniversary of the festival (founded in 2016). The organizers have put together a particularly dense lineup for the anniversary edition — a mix of established international stars, German pop greats, and curated newcomers. The program reads like a 'Who's Who' of the southern German pop music scene.

• Anastacia — American pop-soul diva with hits like 'I'm Outta Love'
• OG Keemo — one of the most successful German hip-hop artists of recent years
• Meute — the Hamburg-based marching band that reinterprets electronic music with classical wind instruments
• The Streets — British hip-hop pioneer with Mike Skinner
• Ben Zucker — German Schlager star
• Other international and German acts from pop, rock, hip-hop, and electronic music

Maimarktgelände as Festival Location

The Maimarktgelände Mannheim — one of the largest event areas in southern Germany — offers ideal infrastructure for a three-week festival. The large big top can accommodate several thousand spectators, and the open-air stage complements the offering in good weather. Around it: catering stands, food trucks, a cocktail bar, and merchandise stands. The transport links are excellent — direct highway connection A6/A656/A659, Mannheim main train station, then tram 5 or 6 to Maimarktgelände.

The 'Big Sister' of the Maifeld Derby

The Zeltfestival is closely linked to the Maifeld Derby — the indie-oriented sister festival, also held at the Maimarktgelände. While the Maifeld Derby focuses on alternative pop and indie acts, the Zeltfestival presents the broader mainstream spectrum: pop, rock, hip-hop, Schlager, and comedy. Together, both festivals make Mannheim one of the most important festival locations in Baden-Württemberg.

Mannheim — Festival City on the Rhine

With around 312,000 inhabitants, Mannheim is the third-largest city in Baden-Württemberg and home to many creative industries. The city — known for its orthogonal street grid, the famous 'Quadrate', the Palace, the Kunsthalle, and the Popakademie — cultivates an outstanding music scene. Visitors to the Zeltfestival can combine their trip with a visit to downtown Mannheim, a boat trip on the Neckar, or a detour to Heidelberg's old town (20 km east).
