Four weeks of open-air concerts and culture "free and outdoors" in Gütersloh
The Gütersloh Summer is the most successful flagship event of the Gütersloh Tourist Association e.V. — and a model case for "free and outdoors": Four weeks, multiple venues, a packed program of live music, choral singing, family activities, and open-air cinema. Since its first edition in 1999, the Summer has established itself as a fixed summer date in the city's event calendar — and the Sunday concerts at Mohns Park regularly attract around 2,000 well-attended visitors.
The central venue is the stage at Mohns Park: Starting July 19, weekly Sunday concerts will take place here — Folk, Pop, Jazz, Singer-Songwriter, plus local favorites. The park is the city's green lung and a meeting point for families, seniors, and young adults alike on Sunday afternoons. Picnic blankets on the lawn, drinks from the association, free admission — the atmosphere is relaxed and intergenerational.
Even though Sunday concerts form the musical backbone, the program is broader: Choral singing in the park brings together ensembles like Koro Turco (intercultural choir) and the Singing Company Isselhorst; bands like The Snooks and Four Roses play the main stage, complemented by smaller formats on Dalke Island. Family activities round off the program.
Gütersloh is located in the Gütersloh district in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the south of East Westphalia-Lippe. The city is home to several world market leaders (Bertelsmann, Miele, Storck) and, thanks to this economic strength, possesses a confident, well-funded cultural scene. The Gütersloh Summer is an example and expression of this: supported by the Tourist Association, financed by sponsors, and gratefully received by the public.
The 2026 edition of the Gütersloh Summer kicks off at Kolbeplatz (July 11) and then moves to Mohns Park for four weeks. Sunday after Sunday, bands perform on the open-air stage, alongside choral singing in the park, small-scale performances on Dalke Island, open-air cinema in cooperation with Gütersloh Marketing, and guided tours in the Botanical Garden. Free admission to all events.
Free admission. Financed by sponsors of the Gütersloh Tourist Association, sale of drinks and food on site.
Gütersloh is on the Berlin–Cologne ICE high-speed rail line. Mohns Park is about a 20-minute walk from the station or accessible by city bus line 26 (stop: Mohns Park). By car, take the A2 motorway (exit: Gütersloh).
Free admission to all concerts. Financed by sponsors and the sale of drinks and food.
Bring a picnic blanket and a folding chair — the lawn at Mohns Park is large and relaxed. If rain is forecast, the program usually goes ahead; check the Tourist Association's website for weather updates.
